Proust program set for Dec. 19

Capture one of the 20th Century’s most influential writers and philosophical thinkers on Dec. 19 when the Greenwich Arts Council presents Marcel Proust: Writings and Music.

Author of the classic Remembrance of Things Past, Proust will be celebrated in a program of words and sounds produced by Pamela Kuhn and organized in collaboration with the literary Proust Group on the occasion of the Proust centenary.

Musical pieces by Gabriel Faure, Camille Saint-Saens, Reynaldo Hahn and Henri Duparc will be performed by pianist David Holkeboer, accompanied by soprano Hansini Bhasker. Actress Florence Phillips will read passages of Proust as well as other writings about the author.

Seating for the program is on a first come, first seated basis. A $10 donation is requested at the door. Following the concert refreshments of Proust’s famous “madeleines” will be served.

The program takes place at the Greenwich Arts Council Meeting Room, 299 Greenwich Avenue at 7 p.m. For more information contact the council at 203-862-6750 or go to Greenwichartscouncil.org.
