Santa Claus has come to Greenwich, and for anyone with a list of items they want this year (provided they’re on the nice and not the naughty list), McArdle’s Florist and Garden Center is the place to be.

As it does every year, McArdle’s, at 48 Arch Street, has transformed into Santa’s Workshop as St. Nick and his reindeer have arrived. And they once again arrived in grand style with a reindeer parade down Greenwich Avenue on Nov. 29, officially launching the Greenwich tradition for the season.

It wasn’t just Santa who was a featured part of the parade as he rode in a car with James McArdle. Selectman Drew Marzullo was also in the parade, along with Courtney Kane from News 12 Connecticut. They rode in Mercedes-Benz convertibles, contributed by Mercedes-Benz of Greenwich, as part of a procession that also included the Greenwich Police Department and Greenwich Fire Department.

The parade has become a major part of the holiday season in Greenwich and marks McArdle’s as a must to visit in the weeks leading up to Christmas. Inside the store, Santa’s Workshop is open for business, and kids may come in daily for photos with Santa. During last weekend’s Greenwich Holiday Stroll, $5 from each photo package purchased was donated to Kids in Crisis. Santa will be at McArdle’s, along with his reindeer, Monday through Friday from noon to 6 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Additionally, the popular reindeer feeding times will take place daily at 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. The reindeer will be here until Dec. 23, when they have to get ready for their work, but Santa will be at McArdle’s through Dec. 24 for those last-minute pleas to be on the nice list.
