Renowned clergyman to lead mission at St. Paul

St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Greenwich is preparing to host “one of the best preachers in New York City,” as named by New York Magazine in 2009.

From Dec. 16 to 18, Father Dennis M. Corrado, c.o., will present a special Advent mission at the church.

The mission, entitled The Pope’s Blueprint: Living the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy, will mark Father Corrado’s return to the St. Paul community. In 2009, Father Corrado led a successful mission on forgiveness during the Lenten season at the parish. The Works of Mercy are written tenets found throughout Christianity and have been traditionally divided into two categories: the Corporal Works of Mercy, which concern the material needs of others, and the Spiritual Works of Mercy, which concern the spiritual needs of others.

The Advent mission will focus on the different ways one can incorporate Pope Francis’ edict into daily life. Pope Francis has been noted for his humility and his concern for the poor and people of all backgrounds, beliefs and faiths.

“Advent is a period of preparation each year and the perfect time to rekindle one’s relationship with Christ,” said Rev. Frank Allen Winn, pastor of St. Paul. “We are delighted to welcome Father Corrado back to St. Paul for this very timely mission,” he added.

The Advent mission is free and open to the general public. Refreshments will be served. For more information call 203-531-8741.
