Wells wins Greenwich’s annual Jingle Bell Jog

Alan Wells led the field of 385 runners to win the Jingle Bell Jog for Pathways on Sunday at Threads & Treads.

Wells, 50, from Orlando, Fla., won the three-mile race with a time of 16 minutes, four seconds.

Will Berczuk, 16, from Greenwich, was runner-up with a 16:35 while Stamford’s Anatolie Vartosu, 46, placed third with a 16:58.

Liz Herbert of Darien was the Open Women champion and she placed eighth overall with a 19:01.

Dawn Marinaccio (19:34) was the runner-up female and and 11th overall while Sharon Vos (20:02) placed third among women and was 15th. They are both from Greenwich.

Taro Itoh (18:18), Chris Tingue (18:20), Bruce Semer (18:24) and Alex Lynch (18:45), all Greenwich residents, finished in places four through seven.

The road race was the final event of the year’s 12 events in the Betteridge Greenwich Cup 2013 series.
