Fairway donates to 9/11 project

Bre-Fairway-check-11-7The Fairway Market in Stamford recently got its motor running by presenting a $5,000 check to the Greenwich Police Department for a 9/11 memorial.

The plan is to custom paint a Harley Davidson motorcycle, which the police won in a raffle held during America’s 9/11 Ride in 2011, and include the names of the 26 people with Greenwich connections who were killed in the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Charles Santoro, Fairway Market’s executive chairman and a Greenwich resident, presented the check to the Greenwich Police Department on Oct. 25, in the market at 699 Canal Street.

Fairway held a special shopping night on Sept. 25 from which 25% of all proceeds were donated to the memorial effort. When completed, the motorcycle, which will also honor all the first responders of that day, will be placed in the lobby of the public safety complex for the public to view.
