Long Island Sound recently came to life for seventh graders at Stanwich School, who took part in an exciting curricular connected learning experience at the Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk. At the aquarium, students learned about Long Island Sound’s marine life aboard the facility’s research vessel, Oceanic. Students utilized such sampling techniques as a plankton tow, biodredge, mud grab and otter trawl that brought up different vertebrate and invertebrate species of the Long Island Sound. After visiting the aquarium’s exhibits and their study cruise aboard the Oceanic, students watched the current IMAX feature, Great White Shark.
