Kids events to raise funds for club generator

The Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich (BGCG) is asking the community to help light the way in obtaining a backup generator before the next storm arrives and knocks the building’s power out, causing hundreds of club children to be out of touch with parents in a darkening clubhouse with only an emergency stairwell and exit lighting.

Support the cause and help the club raise $75,000 by attending one or more upcoming events. On Friday, Nov. 29, families are invited to an ice skating fund-raiser. People can go to the clubhouse to work off that Thanksgiving turkey, have fun with the family and help fund an emergency generator for the club.

Hot chocolate and treats will be provided. All BGCG guests are required to bring their own skates. All children must be accompanied by a guardian at all times. To participate, a family waiver must be signed by an adult.

Kids age eight and under are also invited to skate into the new year at the Kids New Year’s Eve Skating Party next month. Hot chocolate, treats and pizza dinner will be provided. All BGCG guests are required to bring their own skates. All children must be accompanied by a guardian at all times. To participate, a family waiver must be signed by an adult.

On Dec. 31, kids nine to 12-years-old are invited to ring in the new year at the clubhouse in a safe, nurturing environment where kids have fun and succeed.

Parents can enjoy themselves at a holiday party with peace of mind knowing that their child (children) is safely celebrating the holiday at this club fund-raiser. Kids will have a great time swimming, watching movies and more, including participating in a countdown as they watch the ball drop on a huge screen. A pizza dinner will be provided.

All BGCG guests are required to bring their own sleeping bags (or other bedding), swimsuits and towels and anything else that will make them comfortable for this huge slumber party. No electronic devices will be permitted.

Parents must pick up their child on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014 no later than 8 a.m. To participate, a waiver for the child must be signed by a guardian. The deadline to register is Dec. 18.
