Decorating contest set to begin Dec. 1

The holiday season is here and Greenwich businesses have the chance to show off their spirit now that the Greenwich Chamber of Commerce has opened its annual holiday decorating contest.

The contest is open to all local businesses with a store front and is not limited to Chamber members. Businesses are encouraged to decorate their storefronts in the spirit of the holidays and will be eligible to win prizes and special recognition for their efforts.

This year’s windows will be evaluated by four groups of judges. The town will be broken into four areas: Central Greenwich, which is defined as starting from the intersection of North Street and East Putnam Avenue and ending at the Anthropologie store on West Putnam Avenue and includes Greenwich Avenue and all side streets, Byram/Glenville/Pemberwick, Cos Cob/Riverside and Old Greenwich. There will be two winners per geographic area and the categories are Best Classic Holiday Store Front and Best Original Holiday Store Front.

The judging begins on Saturday, Dec. 1 and will run through Friday, Dec. 6.

Winners will be announced on Dec. 11 at the Chamber’s Holiday Party and Storefront Decorating Awards event which will be held at Bruce Museum at One Museum Drive from 5:30 to 7 p.m. This party is open to members and non-members. A RSVP is required. Contact the chamber at 203-869-3500 or [email protected] for more information or to RSVP. Prizes include free advertising on the chamber’s website, 50% off a 2014 Chamber membership and special recognition at the chamber’s holiday party.
