A star-studded pre-tournament party to launch the NFL Alumni CT Chapter Celebrity Classic recently raised funds for a variety of charities in Connecticut and New York.

Morello Bistro on Greenwich Avenue hosted the event for the second year in a row and general manager Jimmy Branigan was on hand to welcome NFL Alumni players, sponsors, family and friends.

The evening began with a wonderful rendition of the national anthem sung by Sadie Seelert, a 12-year-old Broadway actress and student at Saxe Middle School in New Canaan, followed by player introductions.

Chapter President Steve Thurlow spoke about the NFL’s mission of “Caring For Kids,” advanced through hundreds of fund-raising, community service and social events each year. Tiffany & Co. bracelets and Super Bowl raffle tickets were sold to raise money for the chapter’s efforts. Morello specialty appetizers and cocktails were enjoyed by all.

“We thank Morello for hosting the NFL Alumni CT Chapter once again,” said Kelly McCoy, senior vice president of marketing for the NFL Alumni Association. “Our guests enjoyed the delicious food, drinks and stunning features of the restaurant.”

“We were thrilled to host NFL Alumni, sponsors and friends for a second consecutive year as a kick-off to the Celebrity Classic,” said Mr. Branigan.

“The NFL Alumni Association does a terrific job of supporting youth charities and we were honored to contribute to that mission.”
