Last month, hundreds of guests went dancing in the light at Greenwich Hospital’s Harvest Moon Gala, an annual fund-raiser held to support the hospital’s emergency department.

Listening to music provided by Alex Donner & His Orchestra, attendees at the Oct. 19 event at Greenwich Country Club were treated to what was called an “intimate woodland setting” inside the outdoor tent, which included a night sky and an illuminated “harvest moon” with stars twinkling overhead. The decor for the evening was provided by Reed McIlvaine of Renny & Reed in Manhattan, and it included tables with all the touches of a fall atmosphere and centerpieces with jewel-toned flowers.

Guests for the evening included notable hospital supporters as well as U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), a Greenwich resident, First Selectman Peter Tesei and Selectmen Dave Theis and Drew Marzullo, himself a supervisor with Greenwich Emergency Medical Services and already well acquainted with the hospital’s emergency department.

During remarks at the event, Greenwich Hospital President and CEO Frank Corvino said that more than 43,500 patients from both Fairfield and Westchester counties had been treated in the department over the last year, and he thanked all the supporters for making it possible.

“We all know how important it is to have that high standard of care so close to home,” Mr. Corvino said.

A highlight of the evening, which included both a silent and live auction and dinner, was the presentation of the President’s Award to state Sen. L. Scott Frantz (R-36th District), who praised the emergency department’s staff as “amazing professionals who have been there for me and my family time and time again.”
