Hersam Acorn Radio will debut with the FCIAC Football Championship Preview Show this Thursday, Nov. 21, at noon. And it will provide live play-by-play of the game on Friday between New Canaan and St. Joseph’s.

The show, hosted by Hersam Acorn Radio Manager Rob Adams, will review the FCIAC football season and build excitement for the annual championship game. Dave Stewart, veteran sports editor of the New Canaan Advertiser and Sports Information Director of FCIAC.net, will co-host. Bill Bloxsom, sports editor of the Trumbull Times, will also add his perspective.

The New Canaan High School football team has clinched its spot in the FCIAC title game last week. St. Joseph clinched the other spot with a win over Brien McMahon on Friday. New Canaan beat St. Joe’s earlier this year.

On Friday, Nov. 22, the Advertiser and Hersam Acorn Radio will broadcast the annual FCIAC Championship Game live. Held annually since 1966, the game will be at Trumbull’s McDougall Stadium. The game will kick off at 7 and Hersam Acorn Radio will be live at 6:45 with the pregame show.

Both the preview show and the FCIAC championship will air online at NCAdvertiser.com, Trumbulltimes.com, and FCIAC.net. The show will also be broadcast to most smartphones. More information will be available at each site next week.

Adams, who was been broadcasting FCIAC sports since 1998, will handle the play-by-play duties. This will be his ninth FCIAC football championship broadcast. Joining him are analyst Paul Silverfarb, sports editor of the Greenwich Post. Chris Kaelin, a radio veteran who has worked with Adams on WGCH in Greenwich, will handle the sideline and interviews.

“The launch of Hersam Acorn Radio is the next logical step for us in our evolution as a new media firm,” said Martin V. Hersam, Chief Operating Officer of Hersam Acorn Newspapers. “While we still have firm roots in traditional media we are constantly working to serve the ever-changing needs of our vast print, web, mobile and social audiences in Fairfield and Westchester Counties.”
