Toy drive to benefit children with pediatric illnesses

‘Tis the season of giving and the Jewish Community Center (JCC) of Greenwich and PJ Library are teaming up to produce a Hands-On Community Service project that will help Greenwich Hospital and Chai Lifeline collect toys for the holiday season.

The toy drive will take place at the second annual Hanukah Party & Toy Drive, jointly presented by JCC Greenwich and UJA Federation of Greenwich on Sunday, Nov. 17, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at Carmel Academy, 270 Lake Avenue.

Greenwich Hospital and Chai Lifeline are to be the recipients of new, un-wrapped toys for children. Partygoers will also be invited to make cards to go with their gift donations at the event, where tables and supplies will be furnished. Toy recipients are tots to tweens with pediatric illnesses who are being served by Greenwich Hospital and Chai Lifeline. Toy drop and cardmaking begin at 3:30 p.m.

“Greenwich Hospital is honored to have been selected as a recipient of this generous donation from JCC Greenwich and PJ Library,” said Frank A. Corvino, president and CEO of Greenwich Hospital. “The children in our pediatric unit will be delighted to receive new toys around the holidays.”

“In mounting this holiday toy drive, participants experience an extra dose of enjoyment associated with acts of kindness,” said event co-chair Claudine Cohen. “We are delighted to have this opportunity for families to engage children in service to our local community in connection with Greenwich Hospital.”

The featured act at this year’s Hanukah Party and Hands On Family Service will be master illusionist Alex de Tessieres, presenting his acclaimed High Energy Magic of Speed act as a solo performance. Following the show, guests will celebrate over festive latkes (potato pancakes) and mini-sufganiot (Israeli donuts).

Admission is $18 per person or $72 per immediate family, and free to children under one. For additional information and registration, visit Jccgreenwich.org.
