Byxbee appointed to School Readiness Council

Greenwich United Way Youth Services Coordinator Jenny Byxbee will expand her community outreach, having recently been named co-chair of the School Readiness Council for the coming year.

“As the Youth Services Coordinator for the town of Greenwich, Jenny’s familiarity with issues facing our young people is comprehensive. She will be a strong council leader,” First Selectman Peter Tesei said in making the appointment.

Ms. Byxbee, a regular columnist for the Post, succeeds Bob Short, Family Centers vice president. Mary Forde, Greenwich Public Schools director of pupil personnel services/special education superintendent, will serve again this year as council co-chair. She was appointed by Superintendent of Schools William McKersie.

Ensuring that all children enter kindergarten with the preparation, experiences and support needed to achieve academic success is the goal of the School Readiness Council. The group is comprised of community leaders, early childhood educators, health professionals and parents, all working together on issues effecting the health, education and development of local children, ages birth to eight years.
