Sophomore editorial published in national journal

For Convent of the Sacred Heart (CSH) sophomore Alana Galloway, tragedy sparked inspiration, as the student’s editorial on the recent suicide of Greenwich teen Bart Palosz and art work by junior Anabeth Bostrup were published in The Stewardship Report.

The editorial originally appeared in CSH’s Upper School online newspaper, King Street Chronicle.

“This is a wonderful example of a real-world experience for our students,” said Matilde Larson, a teacher of English and journalism. “It is every journalist’s goal to have her work picked up by other publications.”

Alana’s editorial was published on Oct. 7 in the King Street Chronicle’s first issue of the new school year. The student newspaper was recognized by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association earlier that month when it received a prestigious gold medal for its debut year of online publication, which was the previous school year, 2012-13. The Stewardship Report’s mission is to engage the world and improve it through articles that offer a global mix from more than 50 writers. Alana, a Greenwich resident, wrote the article for the Eyewitness section of The Stewardship’s Report which can be found at
