Diabetes event aims to educate

Are you one of the nearly 26 million children and adults in the United States who suffers from diabetes? Don’t miss a workshop hosted by the Connecticut Nurses’ Foundation entitled, “Good Looks, Good Health: Diabetes is a Family Affair on Sunday,” on Nov. 17, from noon to 4:30 p.m. at the Charles F. Dolan School of Business at Fairfield University.

Approximately 10% of the U.S. population  has diabetes and this event aims to educate families about diabetes management and promote resources available in communities across Fairfield County. The half-day workshop will include diabetes risk assessments, health screenings, dance, exercise and fitness instructions and community and educational resource handouts.

Attendees will also have the chance to meet local certified diabetes educators and dietitians and win raffle prizes. Representatives from Greenwich Hospital’s Weight Loss and Diabetes Center will also be on hand to share information about their program.

This event is presented in conjunction with the American Diabetes Association and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. For more information, visit Ctnursesfoundation.org.
