Greenwich Lions to hold grapefruit fund-raiser this weekend

The Greenwich Lions Club is launching another juicy fund-raiser by selling Texas Ruby Red grapefruit to support local projects and its ongoing to assist individuals with low vision.

The grapefruit are arriving Saturday, Nov. 9 and members of the club will be selling cases in Cos Cob next to the firehouse on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, Nov. 9 10 and 11. Alternately, those interested may call 203-629-2616. The price per 20 pound box is $20.

The Greenwich Lions work in a variety of ways to improve community life for youth, seniors and particularly the visually and hearing impaired through the Lions Low Vision Center and Connecticut Lions Eye research Foundation. Over the past 50 years, financial support from the Greenwich Lions Foundation has resulted in one of the biggest large-print libraries in the state at Greenwich Library.

The Lions also support research work in the areas of juvenile diabetes and macular degeneration, and the Greenwich Social Services Department’s “Campership” program.
