For the seventh consecutive year, the GHS cheerleading team will be sharing some shopping, fashion and fun with the Greenwich community, as they are prepping to host the  Fashion Show and Holiday Boutique.

“We are excited and it’s looking to be a big crowd,” Greenwich High cheerleading head coach Maryanne Catalano said. “We have great vendors that will be joining us to sell their items and the seniors will be modeling. It really is a nice event that brings the community together. It’s a lot of work, but it’s worth it because people want to see it year after year. For me, it’s great for the kids because the underclassmen look up to it and the seniors look forward to modeling. All the parents chip in and help, whether it’s decorating or tearing down or being a part of the whole thing.”

The event will take place Sunday, Nov. 17 and once again be located at the Hyatt Regency Greenwich.

“It’s a great event and a good bonding experience for all of us,” GHS senior Amanda Rosabella said. “It’s a fun time because we work so hard for competition and football or basketball seasons. It’s a great way for us to relax and enjoy ourselves. Walking down the catwalk will be great, especially after watching all the seniors before me doing it.”

This year’s fashion show will have a slightly different look to it. In the past, all the GHS senior cheerleaders would walk down the runway and model some of the finest clothing in this area. However, with only three seniors on this year’s cheerleading squad, Catalano had to change things up a little bit.

While seniors Taylor Ingraham, Ashley Grudzinski and Rosabella keep up the tradition, Catalano has some help for the trio.

“The seniors are so excited for this,” Catalano said. “Since we only have three of them, the parents of the football captains will be modeling and the parents of the cheerleading captains will be modeling. This is really important to the seniors. It’s fun to walk in there on that day because their eyes are so bright. It’s really all about them and really rewarding for me to watch.”

“It’s going to be a lot of fun,” Grudzinski said. “Now that we are seniors, we get to finally wear the clothes that we saw the seniors wear in the past. Since there are only three seniors, we get to wear many clothes. Walking down on the catwalk with the football players will be a lot of fun. I can’t wait.”

In addition to the fashion show, vendors from around the area will be selling holiday items. Catalano said that around 15 vendors will be on-hand.

“Since my freshman year, I’ve been on varsity and have been watching every year progress more and more with the fashion show,” Ingraham said. “It seems to get bigger and bigger every year. I feel this year will be a lot of fun. The fashion show will be amazing and the stuff for sale is really nice.”

The bulk of the money for the cheerleading team will come from the items up for bid at the silent auction. Some of the items up for auction will be from Garden Catering, J-House Hotel, Gabriele’s Italian Steakhouse and Sam’s Bar and Grill in Port Chester, N.Y.

The cost for an adult is $40 and any student is $15. Butler appetizers will be available, as well as tea sandwiches, desserts, coffee, tea and punch.

“The event is a big opportunity for every one in Greenwich to come,” Ingraham said. “There’s going to be a wide-range of people who don’t know each other and they will be able to get to interact. I feel like it’s going to be a big thing.”
