We can count on Peter Bernstein

FI-Letter-to-the-EditorTo the Editor

I am writing in support of Peter Bernstein as a candidate for the Board of Education.

I am elated, to say the least, that Peter has chosen to put his name in for this very important role. Peter is accountable, thoughtful, and professional as well as socially and emotionally intelligent which is a key ingredient for success in roles like this.

I have seen Peter in action over time first as a class dad for my daughter’s kindergarten class and then as a member of the PTA board when he served as president. Peter is highly organized and highly motivated. He always works for the benefit of all and can bring contentious matters to an agreeable solution for all those involved.

Peter is always prepared for meetings and events. He helped bring our PTA board together and made sure that the PTA would continue to thrive after his term. Peter was more than willing to roll his sleeves up and help wherever needed. From organizing school events, to field trips, to setting up for student activities – you could count on Peter for anything that was needed.

He ran efficient meetings to make sure that we were able to get through our entire agenda and still leave time for discussion. Peter made sure the school community knew about the meetings and made sure to be inclusive.

One of the many examples of Peter’s exemplary leadership and efforts was his ability to continually invite and gather parent input from the diverse community at the school. He organized a forum in Spanish with a Board of Education member so their voices would be heard. He worked with the School Governance Council to promote successful events of parents and teachers working together because at the end of the day it is an partnership for every child’s academic success.

Peter knows how to work with others and will be a strong level headed voice on the Board where needed.  Peter Bernstein will be a true asset to the Board of Education and our children.  To conclude I will share a quote that comes to mind that Peter Bernstein exemplifies: “Great leaders are almost always great simplifiers, who can cut through argument, debate and doubt, to offer a solution everybody can understand,” Colin Powell once said.

Please vote for Peter Bernstein on Tuesday, November 5.
