Brunswick Crew finishes its season strong at Orchard Beach Lagoon

Competing against three other boys day schools, the Brunswick School crew team finished its season in stellar fashion, winning both varsity races and adding a second and third place performance.

The event, located at Orchard Beach Lagoon, was a 2,000-meter course in New Rochelle, N.Y., and the Brunswick School varsity teams took first place in both events.

The Brunswick Varsity-8 boat took first place overall, finishing the course with a time of 6:02.55. St. John’s finished second in the event with a time of 6:07.63, while BC High took the bronze with a time of 6:13.86. Not to be outdone was Fordham Prep, which finished fourth overall with a time of 6:34.58.

In the second varsity event, the Bruins yet again finished first overall, crossing the finish line with an impressive time of 6:15.40. The next closest boat was St. John’s, which took second with a time of 6:24,29. In third was BC High with a time of 6:25.82 and Fordham Prep took fourth with a time of 6:36.58.

In other action, the Brunswick Novice-8 boat took home the silver, finishing the course with a time of 7:18.57. The Bruins were 16 seconds away from top team BC High. The Brunswick Varsity Third-8 boat ended its day in a battle with BC High, however it was BC High that came out on top, finishing second overall with a time of 6:04.01. Brunswick took third with a time of 6:04.38.
