Updated: Fri., Nov. 1 at 10:46 a.m.: The Greenwich High School athletic department will be well represented in the upcoming Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference postseason tournaments.

Fresh off its Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference championship, the Greenwich High School boys soccer team will be looking to add another trophy to its collection, as they start play in the class LL postseason. Big Red earned the No. 1 overall spot in the class LL tournament, after posting a regular season record of 14-0-2.

The top-seeded Cardinals earned a first round bye in the class LL tourney and will be in action Thursday afternoon at Greenwich High School. Greenwich will play the winner of the first round game that matches up No. 16 Fairfield Prep against No. 17 New Milford High School. Game time at Cardinal Stadium is slated for 2 p.m.

Big Red was the lone boys soccer team in class LL to earn the opening round bye.

Xavier High School is the No. 2 seed (12-0-4) and will play No. 31 seeded Bridgeport Central in the opening round. The team that battled Greenwich in the FCIAC championship game, Ridgefield High School, picked up the No 3 seed in the class LL tournament (12-1-3) and will start play by hosting Hall High School.

The Greenwich High School girls soccer team will start play in the class LL tournament Monday afternoon. Big Red, with a 6-6-4 regular season, picked up the No. 26 spot in the tournament and will be traveling to No. 7 seed Cheshire High School for a game that gets underway at 2 p.m.

The winner of that game will advance to the second round and play the winner of 10th seed South Windsor versus No. 23 seed West Haven High School on Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. The located will be determined by the higher ranked team getting the home game.

The Greenwich High School girls volleyball team will be playing in the class LL postseason tournament. With a record of 17-2 overall in the regular season, Big Red earned the No. 3 seed in class LL. Although the Lady Cardinals are tied with Darien High School the same regular season record, Greenwich picked up the tiebreaker due to its head-to-head victory earlier in the season.

Due to their high seed, Greenwich has earned a bye in the opening round, which gets underway Monday. Greenwich will battle the winner of No. 14 Shelton High School and No. 19 seed Trumbull High School at the GHS gym on Thursday night at 7 p.m.

With a 20-0 mark, Cheshire High School is the class LL top seed and Staples is seeded second with a 17-1 regular season.

Coming off their top five finish at FCIACs, the Greenwich High girls swimming and diving team will be back in action starting Nov. 6, as the divers travel to Bulkeley High School in Hartford for competition in both the class LL diving trials and championships. The event starts at 4:30 p.m.

The GHS field hockey team, with a regular season record of 13-2-0-0, will be looking to rebound from an FCIAC tournament opening round loss. They enter the class L state tournament as the No. 3 seed and will play in the first round, however the opponent is still up in the air.

Big Red will be at Cardinal Stadium Wednesday afternoon at 2 to start play in the tournament and will play the winner of the play-in game that pits No. 14 Amity Regional High School versus No. 19 Staples High School. If Greenwich advances to the second round, they will play the winner of No. 6 seed New Canaan and No. 11 seed South Windsor high school Thursday.

In class L field hockey, Darien (14-1-1) is the top seed, while Cheshire High School (14-2-0-0) netted the second overall seed in the tournament.
