Sherr offers real solutions

Peter Sherr is the only candidate running for Board of Education who has the knowledge and experience to best serve our community.

Peter is a proven advocate for all students in the Greenwich Public Schools. He has led the fight to protect our neighborhood schools. When many members of the BOE and the administration proposed a radical agenda to redistrict more than 800 children, Peter patiently and thoughtfully questioned their plan.

He asked for the necessary data and evidence to determine if moving 20% of elementary students would actually benefit the kids and improve their learning. When none was provided, he endured the constant barrage of criticism from the educational status quo and stood up for Greenwich parents and kids.

With Hartford breathing down our necks to redistrict our community for the purpose of racially balancing our schools (which is highly questionable legally), Peter listened to the thousands of parents and taxpayers who pleaded with the BOE to maintain our neighborhood schools and to challenge the state. Peter demonstrated that he represented Greenwich’s best interests, not Hartford’s. He is more concerned about educating students in Greenwich rather than wasting tax dollars busing our students all around town and creating a circus out of our school system.

Peter offered real solutions based on Greenwich values. He co-authored the community schools plan, the premise of which is that students remain in their neighborhood schools. This plan seeks to enhance the programs at New Lebanon and Hamilton Avenue schools with proven educational models for at-risk students, while also supporting programs for increased academic performance in all of our other schools. While Peter is focusing on academic achievement and accountability, others attack in their push for social engineering.

Sadly, these are very same people who hired successive superintendents intent on unilaterally imposing their ideological agendas on Greenwich irrespective of proven need or efficacy.

Join me in voting for and re-electing Peter Sherr, the only candidate with the experience and a proven track record to serve on the Board of Education.
