Erickson has the best background

FI-Letter-to-the-EditorTo the Editor

This year’s Board of Education race provides much choice for voters.

There are some differences amongst the candidates on key issues like achieving racial balance requirements but much commonality when it comes to espousing their viewpoints on issues such as achievement gaps, common core and digital learning. While the candidates all have high ideals, I have heard very little debate about the reality of making very hard choices in a limited budget environment and how difficult choices will be made.

This is why my vote this November will go to the candidates that I feel not only have the background and best intentions for our students from an education perspective but also have the experience and the abilities to negotiate, prepare budgets and make tough decisions allocating limited resources.

On the Democratic side I wholeheartedly endorse Laura Erickson, who brings to the board 13 years of experience on the RTM prioritizing decisions and supporting important educational initiatives, years of PTA experience and also years of valuable experience in corporate banking.

Laura is the type of well-balanced candidate we need to achieve the best for our children.
