Greenwich needs Sherr and von Braun for the save

FI-Letter-to-the-EditorTo the Editor

Peter von Braun and Peter Sherr have been on the cutting edge on the Board of Education to prevent internal busing of schoolchildren.

If one does not favor busing as a solution, then I think this team should be preserved in the next term. Perhaps one might consider only voting for Mr. Sherr from among the Republican Board of Education candidates. It would be a pity to break up this team now.

The recent work of Dr. von Braun and Mr. Sherr reminds me of the seventh game of the 1986 World Series where Boston’s Calvin Schiraldi was pitching in the bottom of the ninth inning with two outs. He just needed one more out to win by two runs. But then there was a single, followed by another single followed by another and then a wild pitch and then the infamous ground ball to Bill Buckner and the collapse was complete as the game was lost.

It remains to be seen if Dr. von Braun and Mr. Sherr can save the town from busing or if the voters will allow this to turn into a collapse for the town.
