The Democratic team is the way to go

FI-Letter-to-the-EditorTo the Editor

I am proud to announce my support for Beth Krumeich for Greenwich’s first selectman and Drew Marzullo for selectman for the town of Greenwich in the upcoming election.

We are fortunate to have such an incredibly capable and intelligent team. Beth, who is a successful corporate attorney and was a past president of the local League of Women Voters, as well as a recipient of the YWCA’s BRAVA! award, is dedicated to sound fiscal responsibility. And we all know Drew, who has been a popular selectman for two terms and has been with the Greenwich Emergency Medical Service for 20 years, for which he has been given many awards.

Beth and Drew want to address the many pressing problems that have been plaguing our town for many years, like sewer and storm drainage, dredging Binney Park pond, Eastern Civic Center, school maintenance, the Byram pool, and a new firehouse.

All of these problems can be tackled in an intelligent and fiscally sound way by long-term financing. With interest rates at a historic low, this would be the responsible way for getting the work done and our mill rate would stay reasonably low.

And while we’re at the polls, let’s not forget the Democratic choices for the BET.

If they win a majority of the vote, we can implement the long-term financing plan, and at the same time, remedy the inept and money-losing pension fund we now have. The Republicans want the status quo when it comes to our problems but that’s no way to govern.

Fiscal prudence and responsibility is the way to go and, yes, that is the Democratic way.
