Moriarty endorses for school board

FI-Letter-to-the-EditorTo the Editor

As I leave the Board of Education after eight years, with the last two as chairman, I continue to care deeply about the quality of the Greenwich public schools.

This year there is voter choice in the election for Board of Education members and I want to share my views on whom I support as the most qualified candidates to address the challenges facing our schools.

In order for the Board of Education to be successful, it has to do two things well: Focus on the highest priorities that will improve achievement for all students and maintain and support consistent district leadership. I believe the most qualified candidates to achieve these goal are Republicans Peter Bernstein and Brian Peldunas and Democrats Debbie Appelbaum and Laura Erickson.

They have proven in their various community positions that they are hard-working, engaged and thoughtful contributors, represent the community’s values and priorities, support choice and neighborhood schools, advocate for the necessary resources, and provide independent thought while working collaboratively and respectfully. They represent what Greenwich needs in these key leadership roles.

The Board of Education is one of the most difficult but important volunteer boards in our town. The responsibility to deliver the best education for all Greenwich students must be given to the best candidates. Every voter, regardless of party affiliation, is able to vote for two candidates from each party.

Join me in supporting Republicans Bernstein and Peldunas and Democrats Appelbaum and Erickson for the Board of Education on Nov. 5.
