Garden Education Center holds fall events

What’s happening in November at the Garden Education Center of Greenwich? Plenty.

To kick off the month, the center will hold an Election Day Plant Sale on Nov. 5 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the greenhouse. Get just the right plant to brighten any room in your home.

Then on Nov. 14, from 10 a.m. to noon, take the hands-on workshop, Putting your Garden to Bed, a class geared toward preparing vegetable and perennial gardens for a long winter’s sleep.

Bring a notebook and proper outerwear and footwear for walking in the garden with Director of Horticulture, Lisa Beebe.

The center’s evening activity of the month will be the Fall Farm Fest, also on Nov. 14, at 6:30 p.m. The event will be an evening of farm-to-table hors d’oeuvres and dinner served by a well-known, local catering company. The keynote speaker will be Jim Gooch of the CT Farmland Trust. Come learn about the organization and their mission to preserve working lands for future generations.

Finally, create a Thanksgiving table centerpiece on Tuesday, Nov. 26. Ellen Avellino will guide participants through a seasonal design that will shine throughout the weekend. All materials and container will be provided. Participants are asked to bring their clippers.
