Shredding event to aid food collection

Get ready to slice and dice on Nov. 2 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the second fall paper shredding event organized by the Greenwich Recycling Advisory Board and Greenwich Green & Clean in the Island Beach parking lot.

This is an opportunity for residents to shred/destroy old financial statements, medical records and documents that contain sensitive and personal information.

The event is co-sponsored by The First Bank of Greenwich and Santaguida Sanitation, both of Cos Cob.

John Howland, CEO of The First Bank of Greenwich said, “We are proud to be a part of this sustainability initiative which aims to protect personal information and advocate proper recycling.”

This event will support a local Thanksgiving food collection. Bring one can of tuna or one can of fruit per box of paper, or $1 per box. The box size guideline is 12” x 18” x 12” with an eight box maximum per car. Shredding will be done on-site and shreds will be properly recycled. Remove non-sensitive papers, folders, envelopes, paper clips, plastic binders and covers.
