Tesei is one of the state’s finest leaders

FI-Letter-to-the-EditorTo the Editor

Having had the privilege to work with leaders at all levels for several years throughout Connecticut, I can say with greater conviction today than ever before that we have one of the finest in the state right here in the town of Greenwich.

First Selectman Peter Tesei has for well over five years now demonstrated superior leadership on all fronts, be they dealing with devastating effects of Tropical Storm Sandy, helping to maintain a AAA credit rating during stressful economic circumstances or managing our infrastructure needs. His methodical and inclusive management approach consistently sets the stage for well-informed, efficient decision-making and execution of plans.

Peter’s response to the emergency circumstances and destruction of the last three major storms affecting Greenwich has earned him and his top-level team of first responders the distinction of being the “best practices” example in the state from the Department of Emergency and Homeland Security that has been used as a template throughout Connecticut and the nation.

I have worked day and night with Peter and the first responders in the Emergency Operations Center and have been a firsthand witness to his very high level of competence, compassion and sense of team.

Peter’s ability to lead on the issue of finances has benefited us all immensely. The ability to influence the outcome of many decisions made by the BET has resulted in a municipal balance sheet that is the envy of the state and a very low increase in the mill rate each year for the last several years. Service levels remain excellent and department morale high.

Peter is a very good listener and a very thoughtful decision maker. His record is rock solid, and he is exactly the kind of chief elected official that the town of Greenwich needs and deserves for another two years.
