Sacred Heart soccer edged out by Hopkins School, 4-3

The Convent of the Sacred Heart soccer team traveled up to New Haven but weren’t able to upend Hopkins School, falling 4-3 earlier today.

Hopkins School broke out quickly, as Ellington Chukwu found the back of the net two minutes into the game and added another goal 28 minutes later off a Dana Monz penalty kick.

However, the Tigers clawed back into the mix, as sophomore Tracey Hagan cut the deficit in half. Fellow CSH sophomore Alessandra Nocco knotted the game at 2-2 when she found the back of the net 10 minutes into the second half.

Despite the tie, Hopkins exploded by scoring the next two goals to reclaim its two-goal lead. Sacred Heart freshman Emily Cleary added a late goal in the 79th minute.

The Tigers finished with 12 shots on net, while CHS freshman goalie Delaney Colaio added seven saves. Hopkins goalie Sonoe Fitsimmons netted one save and the team finished with 10 shots on goal.

With the loss, Sacred Heart well to 3-4 on the season.
