Tax collector’s debate raises question

FI-Letter-to-the-EditorTo the Editor

During the recent tax collector’s debate between incumbent Tax Collector Tod Laudonia and challenger Rick Novakowski, a discrepancy between the tax collector’s claim of a 99.6% collection rate and a 98.79% collection rate reported by the town comptroller’s report was raised but not explained.

Given the size of the tax roll in the town of Greenwich, this amounts to a discrepancy of several million dollars.

Shouldn’t someone be investigating this problem?
