Benefit run to aid Ugandan women

Take a good cause and “run” with it on Oct. 19 at the Convent of the Sacred Heart’s third annual “Run for Ugandan Girls,” walk/run fund-raiser for women’s education in Uganda.

Students in the Lower, Middle and Upper Schools at Sacred Heart have sponsored a variety of fund-raising events, from bake sales to fun runs, for construction of the Sacred Heart Primary School in Kyamusansala, Uganda. Ongoing tuition and academic support is provided by Sacred Heart students to help young African women build better lives for themselves and their families. The registration fee will support Sacred Heart’s fund-raiser. The fee is $25 for the run and $15 for the walk. Groups can organize a team for $100. T-shirts will be given to the first 100 registrants. Registration will be held at 11:15 a.m. and the 5K race will begin at noon, with a 1K fun walk starting at 12:15 p.m.

The event is sponsored by Sacred Heart’s athletic department, community service program and the Africa Task Force, an Upper School club.
