Appelbaum is committed to excellence

FI-Letter-to-the-EditorTo the Editor

I am writing in support of Debbie Appelbaum as a candidate for the Greenwich Board of Education.

Debbie has a depth of experience within Greenwich’s public school system, having educated both of her children in the public schools and having served as PTA chair/co-chair at North Street Elementary School, Central Middle School and Greenwich High School.

She is committed to academic excellence and closing the achievement gap, as evidenced by her leadership in the development of the Junior League’s Partnership in Education project at Hamilton Avenue Elementary School, a program designed to promote family literacy and reading readiness in all kindergarten and first grade children.

Debbie’s leadership style is inclusive, thoughtful, respectful, and receptive. She is committed to the Greenwich public schools, a supporter of open communications between the Board of Education and the community, and would be an excellent steward of the Greenwich school system’s assets — its facilities, faculty and administration.

This year’s Board of Education election is important for our entire community as we each have the opportunity to elect two of three Democratic candidates and two of three Republican candidates.

After working closely with Debbie at the Junior League of Greenwich, I can think of no one better qualified to represent the best interests of our diverse community than Debbie Appelbaum.

Please join me in voting for Debbie on Nov. 5.
