Police issue Silver Alert for local child

UPDATED 6:25 P.M. TUESDAY: Police say a child believed to be missing, Julie Eli, has been located in New Jersey with her mother.

According to Public Information Officer Lt. Kraig Gray, the parents of the six month old were at a friend’s home in New Britain when the couple got into a fight. The mother left with Julie to go to her parents’ home in New Jersey shortly afterward.

The father of the child then called his own mother to complain. In turn, the woman made a third hand complaint to the police department. The father never believed at any point that his child was in danger, police said. All parties are safe, they said.

A Silver Alert has been issued for six-month-old Greenwich resident Julie Eli, who was last seen with her mother, whose name has not yet been disclosed, according to Greenwich Police.

The mother and daughter were believed to be traveling from New Britain to Stamford Tuesday afternoon, but their whereabouts have since become unknown. At this time, there is no reason to believe anyone is at risk, which is why an Amber Alert was not issued, police said.

Members of GPD are working with state police to locate the child and resolve the case. Greenwich-post.com will provide more details as they become available.
