Combining traditional styles with green tech

Douglas VanderHorn recently announced the development of his new Greenwich architecture firm, Douglas VanderHorn Architects.

An outgrowth of his former firm Hilton-VanderHorn, Douglas VanderHorn Architects is a classically focused architecture firm whose work is inspired by the great residential architecture of the past.

“After 26 years of designing classic homes in Greenwich and its surrounds, my goal for Douglas VanderHorn Architects is simple — continue to provide clients with the most beautifully designed traditional homes in the region,” Mr. VanderHorn said. “From graceful federal or charming shingle style to richly detailed Tudor or elegant French Normandy, we artfully interpret a range of historic architectural styles. As my practice continues, I am proud to be joined by the team of designers whose knowledge and creativity shaped the aesthetic that established my prior firm as the preeminent architects of traditional homes in and around Greenwich.”

Through his many years of practice, Mr. VanderHorn said he has striven to create buildings of enduring character that accommodate current lifestyles and seamlessly incorporate modern building technologies. His new firm consists of 10 highly dedicated individuals with experience ranging from historic preservation, to sustainable design to architectural interiors.

“Douglas VanderHorn Architects is committed to incorporating sustainable building practices, such as green technologies, energy efficiency and smart house controls, to maximize the health and comfort of their clients,” the firm said in a press release.

Douglas VanderHorn Architects is located at 31 East Elm Street. The firm’s work can be viewed at
