The Greenwich Symphony Orchestra (GSO) will host friends, wine lovers and cheese connoisseurs at its annual Wine & Cheese Festival on Friday, Oct. 11 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at Richards of Greenwich.

The event will honor John Sunghuhn Yoon, in recognition of his inspired leadership as director of bands at Greenwich High School for more than 20 years.

The festival will benefit the GSO’s Young People’s Concert series, giving more than 6,000 students in Greenwich public and independent schools an opportunity to explore their classical music heritage through live symphonic performances.

The event will feature more than 75 exceptional wines, champagne, tequila and sake presented by Terry Rogers Matthews of Horseneck Wine & Liquors and an array of premium wines produced by Connecticut home vintners. All will be accompanied by a selection of premier cheeses from around the world, sushi, hors d’oeuvres and desserts. The Lucky 37 jazz quartet led by Larry Spivack will entertain guests throughout the evening. Mr. Spivack is the principal percussionist of the Greenwich Symphony.

Tickets start at $100.
