Coastal flood warning for Greenwich today

FI-stormy-weatherA coastal flood warning is in effect along the coast of Fairfield and Westchester counties through 3 p.m. today, according to the National Weather Service.

The flooding will be most likely during high tide between noon and 3 p.m., but the impact on coastal property is expected to be minimal. The shore roads and basements closest to the coastline will be the most vulnerable and waves are expected to be one foot above astronomical tides.

Showers and a possible thunderstorm are likely after 3 p.m. Some storms could be severe, with damaging winds with gusts up to 34 miles per hour and heavy rain. Rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch are possible.
