Brunswick water polo beats Loomis, Williston Northampton schools

The Brunswick School water polo team notched two more victories over the weekend.

Traveling up to Loomis Chaffee School, the Bruins were able to edge Loomis Chaffee School 12-11 and had an easier time against Williston Nothampton School, winning 14-8.

In the Loomis game, Brunswick was down 3-2 after the first quarter and 6-4 at the half, but the Bruins ended the third quarter with the score knotted at 8-8. In the exciting conclusion to the contest, there were four lead changes in the fourth quarter, however it was Brunswick that scored the game-winning goal on man-up with .6 seconds showing on the clock for the victory.

In the Loomis game, Pat Stefanou finished with six goals, while Simon Derby added two goals. The group of Alex Prout, Grant Pierce, Julian Ronda and Matt Marvin each finished with one goal, but it was Marvin’s goal that sealed the victory.

In the second game, Brunswick was able to breathe a little easier, as Ronda and Will Powers each finished the contest with four goals. Prout, Pierce, Derby, Jack Muccia, Matt Marvin and Emmet McElwreath each finished with one goal.

With the victories, Brunswick upped its perfect New England record to 6-0 on the season and 9-0 overall. On Wednesday, the Bruins will be back in action when they travel to New Jersey for a game against Lawrenceville.
