Local political debates begin Oct. 8

Let the battles begin — the League of Women Voters of Greenwich has announced its upcoming debate schedule for the 2013 election cycle, continuing its long tradition of sponsoring candidate debates to inform and educate town voters.

The candidates for tax collector will debate on Tuesday, Oct. 8 from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Cone Room at Greenwich Town. Tod Laudonia, Republican incumbent, will face Richard Novakowski, Democratic challenger.

Back-to-back debates for Board of Selectmen and first selectman will take place the next week on Wednesday, Oct. 16 from 7 to 8:30. First, Board of Selectmen members David Theis, Republican incumbent, and Drew Marzullo, Democratic incumbent, will meet.

Then the debate for first selectman will follow, featuring incumbent Republican First Selectman Peter Tesei, Democratic challenger Elizabeth Krumeich and independent candidate James Reilly.

These debates will be held in the Town Hall Meeting Room.

The public is encouraged to attend these candidate debates. For more information, contact Jara Burnett at [email protected] or visit Lwvg.org.
