The Greenwich boys, girls cross-country teams compete at Tod’s Point [SLIDESHOW]

 

The Greenwich High School boys and girls cross-country teams took to its home course yesterday afternoon. Competing at Tod’s Point in Greenwich, the Cardinals both had stellar afternoons on the 3.1-mile course.

The Big Red boys and girls teams both finished beating four of the five teams they competed against. The boys team beat Harding High School 15-50, Brien McMahon High School 17-42, Trumbull High School 19-38 and St. Joseph High School 20-43. The girls squad upended Trumbull High 25-34, and took care of St. Joe’s, Harding and Brien McMahon high schools 15-50 each.

For the girls, Greenwich was led by Amy Wyle, as she took fifth overall and first on the team with a time of 17:28. Not far behind was Sarah Callahan, who netted 12th overall with a time of 18:08. Less than 20 seconds behind her was Kana Jitsuno, who grabbed 15th (18:02). Daryl Kennedy also finished in the top 20 with an 18th place time of 18:45.

Spencer Helmrich led the way for the Greenwich boys team. His time of 16:41 was good enough for sixth overall and first on the team. Right behind Helmrich was Mark Jarombek, who took home seventh overall with a time of 16:54. Sebastian Oe cracked the top 10, finishing ninth overall with a time of 17:06.
