Goldrick has right priorities for Greenwich

FI-Letter-to-the-EditorTo the Editor

In November I will vote to re-elect my dad, Sean Goldrick, to the BET and I strongly urge Greenwich voters to do the same.

I will vote for my dad because our libraries are important. My dad will stand with our town’s library trustees, a bipartisan group of former First Selectman Jim Lash and former First Selectman Richard Bergstresser, to protect the public-private funding agreement that has brought us the excellent libraries that serve our community.

I am voting for my dad because he has fought doggedly to make pragmatic capital investments in our aging town infrastructure. He will support dredging Binney Pond and will continue to push for an outdoor community pool to replace the current one that stands as a symbol of neglect for town facilities.

I am voting for my dad because he understands that current Republican policy for town financing is not smart. If you are a taxpayer today in Greenwich, you are shouldering the entire cost of projects that will serve our community for decades to come.

My dad has a plan to relieve this burden by taking advantage of record-low interest rates and spreading the cost of projects over a 20-year period, a strategy used by towns like Darien and New Canaan. If we adopt this policy, we can keep taxes low while retaining our AAA credit rating, and invest in the projects our town needs.

It’s about time for many improvements to Greenwich and my dad has a rational plan to get them done. I urge you to vote to re-elect him with me.

Christine Goldrick
