Wolfe wins 29th annual Tour de Greenwich

Ben Wolfe, 24, from Old Lyme was the winner of the 29th annual HSS Tour de Greenwich this past Sunday.

Wolfe had a time of 48 minutes, 52 seconds for an average speed of 24.56 miles per hour during the 20-mile bicycle race that began and finished at Greenwich High School.

Joe Bitetto, 53, from Stamford was runner-up with a time of 49:09.

Lucas Fortini, 23, of Fairfield and Stamford’s Tarquin Katis, 43, each had a time of 49:24 as they placed third and fourth, respectively.

Max Lippolis of Pound Ridge, N.Y., Thomas Cromel of Ossining, N.Y. and Stephen Badger of Roxbury each had a time of 49:25 while finishing in places five through seven.

Brian Suto of Oxford, Norwalk’s John Morales, Guy Zerega from Wakefield, R.I., Norwalk’s Douglas Crank and Stamford’s Juan Diaz placed eighth through 12th, respectively, as they were all timed in 49:26.

Elizabeth Pratt of Bronxville, N.Y. was the women’s winner and 94th overall out of the 328 finishers with a 57:54. Monica Roberto (58:38) of Newtown was the runner-up woman and Greenwich’s Darcy Ramsey (59:41) was third out of the 54 female finishers.

The ninth event in the series is the Muddy Up 4 Kids II 5-kilometer race. The event, located at Camp Simmons, will take place Sept. 29 at 9:30 a.m.

That will be followed by Susannah’s Run (3-mile race and kids half-mile) at 9 a.m. on Oct. 13 at Greenwich Point, the Back Country Bushwhack (4-mile cross-country race and kids mile) at 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 10 at Camp Simmons, and the Jingle Bell Jog for Pathways (3-mile road race) at 9 a.m. on Dec. 8 at Threads & Treads.
