Dahlia exhibit to dazzle with range of blooms

The Greenwich Dahlia Society’s 6th Annual Dahlia Show, taking place Sept. 21 and 22, promises visitors a fabulous sea of exceptional blooms that range from tiny buttons to huge dinner plate-size stems in an array of stunning colors in an event that is truly a sight to behold.

Sponsored by the Garden Education Center of Greenwich, the show will also feature famed American potter and Dahlia grower Frances Palmer, who will share some of her favorite dahlia varieties as well as examples of the beautiful pottery for which she is known. Her creations have been featured in numerous publications over the years including Martha Stewart Living, Garden Design, Better Homes and Gardens, Elle Décor, House Beautiful and most recently The Wall Street Journal.

Exhibit submissions will be accepted on Saturday, Sept. 21, from 7 to 11 a.m. Gardeners of all levels may submit their dahlias for judging. Novices are encouraged to participate. Experts will be on-hand to help you stage your blooms for judging. Please note before cutting your stems that each bloom must be presented with at least one pair of leaves on its stem.

The Dahlia exhibit will take place at the Garden Education Center of Greenwich and will be open to the public on Sept. 21 from 1 to 4 p.m. and on Sept. 22 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free.

A presentation by Frances Palmer will take place on Sept. 21 at 2:30 p.m.
