Dog adoption fund-raiser expects record crowd

Puppy stock photoGrab all your favorite four-legged friends and head down to Roger Sherman Baldwin Park on Sept. 22 for Adopt-A-Dog’s 26th annual “Puttin’ On The Dog” festival, taking place from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

As one of the largest events staged in Greenwich, the festival has become a “must attend” party for dog owners, dog lovers, families and anyone who is looking to be entertained.

Special appearances by Winston, w20ho starred in the hit Disney movie Frenemies, and the amazing Jilli Dog, the world’s only poker-playing dog, are new additions to a full schedule of activities. There are unusual and fun dog competitions to watch, exciting demonstrations by police, search and rescue and obedience dogs, children’s events, shopping and information booths, unique silent auction items to bid on, displays and food. Two popular bands, The Head Rattlers and Billy & The Showmen, will take the stage to entertain, and Ridgefield’s bluegrass favorites, The Angry O’Hara’s, also are set to perform.

The Veterinary Cancer Center (VCC) in Norwalk once again will offer keepsake photographs of owners with their pet shot by nationally recognized animal photographer, Marshall Boprey, and Cornell University Veterinary Specialists, based in Stamford, will stage a popular “Pawspitality” tent where there is face-painting for kids, games, tasty treats, a free chair massage, popcorn, refreshments and more.

Blue Buffalo, a quality all-natural dog and cat food brand, is Adopt-A-Dog’s critical adoption sponsor — come and meet the shelter’s wonderful dogs who are looking for a second chance.

Some 7,000 people from the tri-state area joined their furry friends at last year’s Puttin’ On The Dog festival. The event is the primary fund-raiser to aid Adopt-A-Dog in its caring work.
