Greenwich High girls swim team blitzes Wilton, 109-77

The Greenwich High School girls swimming and diving team had little trouble getting past Wilton High School yesterday, coming away with the 109-77 victory.

Kim Hill led the way for the Cardinals in the 100-yard freestyle, netting a top time of 54.77 seconds. Not to be outdone was Cristi Frias in the the 100-yard backstroke and 100-yard butterfly events. She grabbed the gold in the fly with a blistering time of 57.85 and took first in the back with a time of 1:00..38.

Another dual winner was Olivia Hallisey. In the 200-yard freestyle, Hallisey touched the wall first and grabbed a time of 2:00.58. It was much tougher in the 500-yard freestyle, as she was in a tight race until end. However, Hallisey grabbed first with a time of 5:21.39.

Ines Villemure also was golden on the day, taking top honors in the diving portion of the competition with 179.40 points.

With the victory, Big Red improved to 2-0 on the season and will be back in action Friday afternoon when they host Norwalk High School at 3:30 p.m.
