RTM petitions due Sept. 16

If you’re looking to snag a spot on the ballot for the Representative Town Meeting (RTM), the time to act is now, as the petition required to become a candidate must be filed with the town clerk’s office by Monday, Sept. 16 at 4 p.m.

The petition, which can be found on the RTM website at Rtm.greenwich.org under the heading RTM Petition and Directions, requires 25 signatures from the entrant’s district in support of his or her candidacy.

It is suggested that the petition be filled with 30 signatures, in case a signature must be voided for any reason.

All RTM seats, including districts that do not currently have vacancies, are open for election.

The petitions must then be brought to Town Hall by the deadline in order for the petitioner to make the ballot this November.
