Novakowski is a true leader

FI-Letter-to-the-EditorTo the Editor

I first met Rick Novakowski shortly after our family moved to Greenwich a little over three years ago.

I had read about Mr. Novakowski’s involvement in addressing the overcrowding and general neglect that I too was concerned with at Island Beach. Such terrific town amenities like the island and the school system are what attracted us to move to Greenwich, and I had seen indifference for facilities like that from where I had moved thanks to government officials. That had resulted in their horrible deterioration, and I certainly did not want to see that happen here in Greenwich.

While I admired Mr. Novakowski’s determination and willingness to show such leadership on this, I honestly was not very optimistic that he’d get officials to listen to our citizens’ concerns. Their initial reaction was a bit dismissive of the existence of problems but Rick assured me that the selectmen were approachable and, if we persisted, we would have our say.

He invited me to a meeting with First Selectman Peter Tesei and we were able to communicate the many concerns prior to the selectmen’s meeting on the issue. It was there that I saw Rick speak before the board, earn the praise of all three selectmen and, most importantly, bring about changes in policy to the benefit of our residents.

Since then, I’ve come to know Rick on a personal level as we coached our sons’ baseball team together. I will be casting my ballot for tax collector this November for not only a good friend and neighbor, but for a true leader. A leader who is able to work with all sides, who will listen and compromise and ultimately find a way to get things done, to make this town a better place for us all.

Please join me in electing a man we are all fortunate to have as our neighbor and friend, Rick Novakowski for tax collector.
