Tour de Greenwich set for Sept. 15

The 29th annual HSS Tour de Greenwich XXIV begins at 7:30 a.m. on Sept. 15. The 20-mile bicycle race begins and finishes at Greenwich High School.

The event, which averages about 400 riders every year, is hosted by Threads & Treads, in partnership with the town of Greenwich Parks and Recreation Deptartment

The tour provides participants a race-style event that is timed and scored. The road course is smooth and scenic and it includes some challenging, rolling hills through the back country in central and north Greenwich.

Most of the rolling climbs are in the first half of the out-and-back course and then riders turn and descend them briskly to the finish.

The elite heats go off first. They are followed by an all-women’s heat, and a beginner, leisure heat rounds out the field.

Registration or more information on the HSS Tour de Greenwich XXIV or any other events in the Betteridge Greenwich Cup series along with complete results of previous events may be obtained at Threadsandtreads.com or by calling Threads & Treads at 203-661-0142.

The series is presented by the Hospital for Special Surgery and hosted by Threads & Treads.
