Oktoberfest fund-raiser set for Sept. 27

BeerIt may come a few days shy of October, but the Greenwich United Way’s fifth annual Oktoberfest fund-raiser is expected to be fun for all on Sept. 27 at Stamford’s Loading Dock.

Last year, nearly 300 supporters, sponsors and guests participated in this lively start to the campaign year.

The evening will feature German-inspired foods prepared by On the Marc, regional beers and wines, music and dancing, friendly competition in the game room and a silent auction. All of the festivities will take place in an Alpine village setting with décor provided by Carolyn Dempsey Design.

Founded in 1933 as the Community Chest and Council, the Greenwich United Way is celebrating 80 years of targeting needs, mobilizing communities and changing lives. In addition to its work identifying and meeting health and human service needs, it is the largest non-governmental source of funding for local health and human service programs.

Giving to the annual community-wide fund-raising campaign is the most effective and efficient way to support critically needed local services that strengthen children and families, support seniors, foster self-sufficiency and assist individuals in crisis.
