Award winning doctor to be honored this fall

More than 5,000 babies were brought into the world and into the town by local obstetrician and gynecologist Caterina Violi, who has served Greenwich families for more than 15 years and will be honored for her work in the fall.

Dr. Violi has made an impact on women’s health not only in Greenwich but in the surrounding area by providing care to women of all ages throughout her career.

Dr. Violi grew up in Stamford, the daughter of Italian immigrants, and one of six daughters. Upon completing her residency at Winthrop Hospital in Long Island where she was chief resident, Dr. Violi chose to return to her roots and establish a medical practice in the Greenwich area. Her contributions to women’s health since that time are well known locally, as she is the recipient of a number of medical awards and honors including being featured in “Insiders Guide to Top Doctors” in Greenwich Magazine and “ Insiders Guide to Top Doctors Fairfield County” in Stamford Magazine.

Dr. Violi started her practice with her sister, Lisa Violi, in a small office near Greenwich Hospital. From there she moved her practice to Dearfield Drive, where she has remained. Her practice has grown into one of the largest obstetrical and gynecological private practices in lower Fairfield County with the help of her innovative and holistic care for women and adolescents.

Dr. Violi’s practice offers on-site nutritional counseling and sonography as well as chiropractic care. She has incorporated several innovative treatments into her practice including robotic surgery, cord blood stem cell workshops, childbirth classes and genetic testing. Her areas of expertise include high risk and routine obstetrical care in all areas of gynecology and adolescent gynecology.

A luncheon to honor and recognize Dr. Violi’s work is being planned for the fall. Contact Marion Welch at [email protected] if you are interested in attending or helping to plan this event.
