Theis is a man of integrity

FI-Letter-to-the-EditorTo the Editor

Integrity is something money can’t buy. You have it or you don’t.

Our “Second” Selectman Dave Theis has got it. Dave is running for re-election this fall and I hope he lands a selectman slot once again.

As a member of the Cos Cob Fire Police Patrol, I look forward each year to seeing Dave at the Cos Cob Volunteer Fire Company’s Inspection Dinner. Dave “inspects” the volunteers before dinner and the ceremonies and every year he proudly wears his dad’s firefighter’s badge recalling proudly visiting the firehouse with his father.

Dave is also a demonstrative, passionate American citizen. The American flags flying proudly at the Mianus River bridge in Cos Cob are there because Dave’s idea and energy made that happen.

On the Board of Selectmen, Dave has been an integral part of the team effort that has worked so well. Yet he has spoken his mind when he disagrees with his partners. He is a man of principle.

Community spirit? Dave has passion for the community, be it the long overdue renovation of the nursing home, fund-raising campaigns for education, our town volunteers and many other projects.

Dave always returns calls, thinks on his feet and is generous with his thoughts. He is eager to make Greenwich an even better place to live and work.

All of the above spell integrity.

Dave and I have stood on “opposite” side of the Democrat/Republican divide but never on opposite sides when it comes to being honest with one another and trying our best to serve the community.

I hope to have the opportunity to work with Dave on many more public service projects. He is my friend.

To all of who can make it happen, let’s give Dave the opportunity to serve Greenwich for another term.  He has earned it.
